AvaRaman systems for Raman spectroscopy
Raman spectroscopy is often used for product identification, reaction monitoring, remote sensing and characterization of highly scattering particles.
Here, the inelastic scattering of the photons of the excitation light on molecules or solids causes a so-called Raman shift, a slight shift of the wavelength of the scattered light with reference to the wavelength of the monochromatic excitation light. In this so-called Raman effect, energy is either transferred from the excitation light to the analyzed material (Stokes side) or vice versa (anti-Stokes side). As excitation source usually a laser is used.
The spectral lines that are characteristic for the material (Stokes lines) are accordingly located on the left or right of the excitation line. Wavenumber is often used instead of wavelength as the energy-equivalent scale in the spectrum.
Avantes offers full Raman systems, where different Raman probes can be adjusted to the specific application. Here, the highly sensitive spectrometer and the laser at 532 nm or 785 nm are integrated in one housing. The configuration of the spectrometer is precisely matched to the laser wavelength. Since both high sensitivity of the spectrometer and high optical resolution are essential in Raman spectroscopy, only spectrometers from Avantes’ SensLine with cooled detectors are used in the Raman systems. For data evaluation, both the already included AvaSoft-Raman and the significantly more complex optional Panorama-Pro software are available.
On the other hand, Avantes offers the AvaRaman bundles, which provide optimal performance at a relative low price, already including all components including laser at 785 nm, spectrometer, probe and software.

AvaRaman-PRB-XXX
3/8” SS low-cost focusing probe with a 200 µm excitation fiber and 400 µm read fiber. Multiple focal lengths available: 5 mm, 7,5 mm (Standard), 10 mm.
It can withstand 80°C. Manual shutter included, 1.5 m fibers.
