Camera attachment TRiCATT
The TRiCATT (time-resolved intensified camera attachment) from Lambert Instruments is a very compact amplifier for high-speed cameras or spectrometers. Phenomena that occur very quickly or under very low light conditions (or under very low fluorescence) can be captured and imaged.
Depending on the measurement setup, the TRiCATT can be individually optimized. In addition to amplifying the signal, it can also be used as an extremely fast electrically switched optical shutter that can be used either directly via the computer or via additional control units. Different lens sizes (relay 1:1 to 3:1, 18 or 25 mm) and mounts (F or C) allow the TRiCATT to be combined with the vast majority of common cameras.
What particularly characterizes the TRiCATT are the possible measurements including modulation in frequency space at extremely high frame rates in addition to light amplification. “Modulation imaging is used to solve problems in various imaging techniques, such as the phase problem in X-ray diffraction, the imaging of extremely fast biological processes, or to achieve a higher, more analyzable image quality in astronomy.
The TRiCATT can also be equipped with an optional mechanical shutter that can be closed between measurements to increase the lifetime of the amplifier and can be used to protect against excessive stray light or laser radiation, for example. It is mounted instead of the objective port and can be controlled either via the TRiCATT software or via an external TTL signal.
