Spectrometer Electronics: PROGAZE Smart Spectrometer Electronics (SSE)
The Smart Spectrometer Electronics (SSE) family is a platform specifically tailored to the requirements of diode-array spectrometers, featuring capabilities for analog and digital signal processing. It enables the implementation of smart sensor concepts — that means, fully autonomous systems with fully integrated data analysis.
The electronics are designed to enable predictive maintenance routines and self-diagnostic functions, which are essential prerequisites for fully autonomous smart sensors. The mainboard collects and processes operational data and can transmit it via the available interfaces. The individual (spectrometer) components communicate with one another via an internal bus system, allowing process controls to be managed centrally through the mainboard’s interfaces. In addition, external sensors — such as those for measuring pressure or temperature—can be easily connected.
Thanks to the Linux-compatible microprocessor (SoC), data can be analyzed directly on the device. In addition to commercial analysis and forecasting solutions, Python or R scripts can also be run for complex data analysis and applications using neural networks. The adjustable conversion depth from 16 to 24 bits allows for flexible adjustment of the data rate. Depending on the application, the system can be configured for either maximum speed or the highest signal resolution. The electronics deliver state-of-the-art performance in terms of dynamic range, signal-to-noise ratio, and stability.
