Terahertz (THz) Raman Spectroscopy with the RG PRO

When terms such as "crystal structures," "phase transitions," and "Raman spectroscopy" come up, terahertz (THz) Raman spectroscopy could be an interesting option. (more…)

Isolators from MinusK Technologies in quantum optics or quantum computers

In quantum computers, individual atoms are trapped using laser traps and cooled to temperatures near absolute zero. The excitation of these atoms (which function as qubits) and the reading out of information are also performed using lasers. The stability requirements for these lasers are incredibly high. (more…)

Paper Spotlight: Specto Photonics

Characterizing active pharmaceutical ingredients requires the simultaneous measurement of chemical, structural, and mechanical properties. Today, we would like to introduce a new spectroscopic method that allows these three properties to be determined in parallel. A new paper from specto Photonics presents a method for measuring the vibrational spectrum from 0.1 to 3,500 cm⁻¹. (more…)

What types of lasers are available in the mid-infrared range?

Whether in environmental monitoring, medicine, industry, or research and development, mid-infrared (MIR; 2.5–25 µm = 4,000 to 400 cm⁻¹) lasers enable highly sensitive measurements. In this MIR range, molecules possess their characteristic “molecular fingerprint” and can thus be uniquely identified. (more…)
