Avantes fibers

Avantes provides a wide choice of optical fibers. All of them are multi-mode fibers with a fiber diameter of 8 µm to 1000 µm. The core consists of silicon dioxide. The following core diameters are available:

• 8 µm (only for IR fibers, 200 – 800 nm)
• 50 µm (only for UV or IR fibers, 200 – 800 nm)
• 100 µm (broadband fibers, 250 – 2500 nm)
• 200 µm (broadband fibers, 250 – 2500 nm)
• 400 µm (broadband fibers, 250 – 2500 nm)
• 600 µm (broadband fibers, 250 – 2500 nm)
• 800 µm (only for UV or IR fibers, 350 – 2500 nm)
• 1000 µm (only for UV or IR fibers, 350 – 2500 nm)

The fiber length can be selected in meters, standard lengths are 1m and 2m.

There are three possibilities for flexible metal sheathing:

• BX: Stainless steel
• ME: chrome-plated brass
• MS: metal-silicone

Optical fibers and probes are available in five basic designs:

• FC: Standard fiber
• FCB: Y-fiber
• FCx: multi-furcated fibre
• FCR: Reflection probe
• FDP: Immersion probe

Most fibers are offered for a wide wavelength range from 250 nm to 2500 nm (UVIR). For wavelengths <250 nm, pre-solarization (PRESOL) is recommended to prevent aging in the first hours of operation. SMA or FC/PC connections are available.

The following additional options are also available:

• SR or PRESOL: UV-resistant
• HT: high temperature resistant up to 200°C
