We previously discussed the possibilities of hyperspectral imaging, allowing to perform spectroscopy across your entire sample area in one shot. We focused particularly on static HERA hyperspectral cameras, but also discussed scanning hyperspectral systems for moving samples. But what if your object is larger than the field of view of your static hyperspectral camera? Or what if you want to control the camera from your own software environment without LabView?

If you want to perform spectroscopy over your entire sample surface, hyperspectral imaging is an exciting approach: Continuous spectra are recorded in each pixel of a “photographic” image, which can then be analyzed in more detail. Hyperspectral imaging thus goes one step further than multispectral imaging. (more…)

For low-noise Raman spectra in which, for example, secondary phases can be detected or in which small sample quantities can be analyzed, long integration times and often additional accumulations of several measurements are usually required. To reduce both, a very stable laser is required. Inelastic scattering of light due to the Raman effect is significantly less efficient than, for example, absorption due to molecular vibrations in infrared spectroscopy.
